Inequality Media seeks a new Digital Engagement Associate to help oversee the organization’s operations, donor relations, and social media channels. This is a full-time position in Berkeley, California. Application deadline is April 19.

Inequality Media (IM) educates and engages the public about inequality and imbalance of power through the use of digital media. A Berkeley-based non-profit with a core staff of five, IM reaches millions of people each week with clear, compelling videos and broadcasts about what’s happening to our democracy, our culture, and our economy – and what people can do to put America on a path toward a fairer and more just society. Co-founded by former Secretary of Labor Robert Reich, Inequality Media has produced over 250 videos - plus 260 live broadcasts - which have been viewed over 450 million times. And we now have over 4.8 million followers from every state in the nation.
Inequality Media seeks a detail-oriented, media savvy, and highly organized strategic thinker with a strong interest in progressive politics to join our small, Berkeley-based operation. The Digital Engagement Associate will work closely with Inequality Media’s leadership, including the Executive Director and the Digital Director, and will be responsible for tasks critical to keeping the organization running smoothly in terms of general operations, donor relations and social media channels. S/he will be responsible for activities directly related to achieving the organization’s goals including maintaining IM’s CRM database, posting content, supporting the day-to-day management of our social media communities (audience development) on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube. S/he will help manage our social media accounts with the goal of growing, engaging and retaining followers while implementing strategies set in place by the Digital Director. The position will have the opportunity to share information, design social media posts, create dialog with followers, and report back to the Digital Director and the IM team on trends and discussions within the social media platforms.
Daily publishing to key social channels, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube, reaching millions of followers.
Work with the Digital Director on audience development, including to grow our number of followers and email list, and to engage supporters through digital campaigns
Work with the Digital Director and creative team to identify and execute rapid response video opportunities
Perform database management, data analysis and data entry (Little Green Light,
Microsoft Excel), including processing and tracking donations
Oversee mail campaigns, including proofreading, editing and production
Assist in the gathering of information and formatting of proposals and solicitations for individuals donors and foundations.
Knowledge of and passion for current events, politics, and economics
Familiarity with Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube, and a solid understanding of the social media landscape and the latest digital trends
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a small team
Excellent oral and written communication skills, including copy-editing skills
Strong organizational and troubleshooting skills
Experience with databases and/or CRM systems such as SalesForce, Raiser’s Edge, and/or Little Green Light
Experience with email marketing platforms such as MailChimp or Action Network
Ability to thrive in a fast-past environment
