Inequality Media (“IM”) and Inequality Media Civic Action (“IMCA”) are committed

to protecting the personal information entrusted to us by our supporters. To better

protect your privacy, this privacy policy (the “Policy”) explains our information

collection practices and the choices you can make about the way your

information is collected when you visit www.inequalitymedia.org or

www.imcivicaction.org (the “Websites”) or interact with us in other ways online

and offline.

Please read this Policy carefully to get a clear understanding of how we collect,

use, protect, or otherwise handle certain information we collect from you. By

using our Websites or providing Personal Information (as defined below) through

other online and offline interactions with us, you consent to the use and collection

IM and IMCA collect information directly from our supporters through voluntary

submissions. These are optional submissions through donations, online forms, or

any other communications with IM and IMCA where you submit information.

When joining our lists, you are only required to provide your first name, last

name, zip code, a valid e-mail address and, optionally, a mobile telephone

number.

The types of information we may collect (“Personal Information”) include your:

  • Name;

  • Contact information (email, phone number, address);

  • Donation details, such as contribution amounts and payment details (including credit card numbers);

  • Survey responses; and

  • Any other information you voluntarily provide.

How We May Use Your Personal Information:

We may use your Personal information for the following purposes:

  • Processing donations and issuing receipts;

  • Sending newsletters, updates, and other communications;

  • Organizing and managing events or programs;

  • Improving our services based on feedback; and

  • Responding to inquiries or requests.

By providing IM or IMCA with your mobile number, you consent to receive calls

and SMS messages from each entity. Message and data rates may apply. If you

no longer want to receive calls or text messages, you can respond STOP in

response to any text message you receive from us.

IM and IMCA uphold stringent privacy standards. The phone numbers, text

messaging originator opt-in data, and consent information of our users and

members remains confidential and is never sold, rented out, disclosed, or

exchanged with any third parties unless explicitly authorized by the user or

required by law. 

How We Share Your Personal Information:

By providing either Inequality Media or Inequality Media Civic Action with your

personal information, each entity may share your information with the other entity.

We only use Personal Information for purposes in furtherance of our missions.

We may share personal information with a limited number of companies or

individuals we hire to provide services, grow our supporter base, or perform

business functions on our behalf.

If we desire to otherwise disclose any of your Personal Information, we will ask

for your consent first. Nonetheless, we may also use and disclose your Personal

Information without first notifying you if necessary: (a) under applicable law; (b) to

comply with legal process; (c) to respond to requests from public and

government authorities; (d) to protect our operations; (e) to protect our rights,

privacy, safety or property, and/or that of you, or others; and (f) to allow us to

pursue available remedies or limit the damages that we may sustain.

How We Secure Your Personal Information:


We take reasonable precautions to protect your Personal Information from

unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. You can donate

confidently to IM and IMCA through our websites and via ActBlue. However, no

method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is entirely secure,

and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

 

How You May Access, Change, or Remove Your Personal Information:

All of our e-mails sent to you include an opt-out option should you wish to stop

receiving news and updates. Additionally, you may contact us at

contact@imcivicaction.org to:

  • Review and update your personal information;

  • Opt out of receiving communications from us via IM and IMCA;

  • Request the deletion of your personal information, subject to legal

  • obligations.

In your request, please make clear what information you would like to have

changed or removed. We will comply with your request as soon as reasonably

practicable.

Third-Party Links

We link to third-party service providers that include but are not limited to payment

processors (see below for our current processors) and social media websites

such as YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and X. We are not responsible for the

privacy practices, policies, or content of third-party websites. If you click on a link

to a third-party website, you are subject to the terms of service and privacy policy

of that individual site. This Privacy Policy applies only to IM’s and IMCA’s

websites and not to any of your activity on third-party websites. Clicking on a

third-party website is a voluntary action and strictly up to you. You are

encouraged to review the individual privacy policies of all websites you visit. We

are not liable for the privacy policies of such other sites.

Use of Websites by Minors:

Our Websites are not directed to individuals under the age of 13, and we request

that these individuals do not provide Personal Information through the Websites.

 

We do not knowingly, directly or passively, collect information from children under

the age of 13. To respect the privacy of children and to comply with the Children’s

Online Privacy Protection Act, children under the age of 13 should not provide

any Personal Information on these Websites. We ask that parents supervise their

children while online.

Updates to This Privacy Policy:

We may update this Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on our

Websites with the updated effective date. If you continue to access our content or

use our Websites after the changes are posted to the Policy, you will be deemed

to have accepted the changes.

Jurisdictional Issues:

These Websites are controlled and operated by us from the United States and

are not intended to subject us to the laws or jurisdiction of any state, country, or

territory other than that of the United States.
